Professional Synopsis:

With specific interest in Liver sugery and transplant, he is currently a part
of the first and only Indian Multi Organ Transplantation program to do
Pure Laparoscopic and Robotic donor Hepatectomies, Liver transplants
and major Laparoscopic and Robotic hepatectomies for Liver cancers at
GEM Hospital, Chennai and was a part of more than 100 Open Living
Donor Liver transplant and Liver resections in a dedicated Liver unit –
AIG Hospital, Hyderabad.


He is also a highly skilled Surgical Gastroenterologist and have operated
several complex supra major Hepato pancreatico biliary and ColoRectal
cases – Open and Advanced Laparoscopic.

Career & Work Experience:

Starting his pursuit as a Doctor, he entered Medicine standing second in
the state, right from the inception of his academic journey.
Graduated Bachelor’s in medicine and Surgery from the oldest and most
reputed college in India, the Madras Medical College. Starting from Day 1
of clinical medicine in this under graduation, his aspiration was to be come
a surgeon.


He set his goals and entered the college which anyone would dream for
surgical training, where India’s best surgeons have originated. Thereby he
completed his Masters in Surgery from King Edward Memorial Hospital,
Mumbai and he held a Senior registrar and a teaching post for a year in
the same place. Got his Laparoscopic surgery skills sharpened by getting
trained under Dr. Abhay Dalvi, Association of Surgeons of India(ASI) and
IHPBA – President.

Passion for more complex gastrointestinal sugery grew. Went on for a
Super speciality training in the best Gastroenterology centre in India,
Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, Hyderabad. Got trained under three
stalwart Gastroenterologists and Surgeons – Dr. D. Nageshwar Reddy, Dr.
G. V. Rao, Dr. Pradeep Rebala.


His passion continued and he also got trained for the most difficult
Gastroenterology Surgery – the Liver Transplant, both cadaver and Live
Donor surgery under Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Transplant Surgeon from the
Leeds, UK.

To add on to his feather he also holds a Membership of Royal College of
Surgeons (MRCS) from Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburg, Scotland,
UK.

Holds several Publications with a few noteworthy below including a few in
progress.

 Impact of Modified duct to mucosa (Buchler) and Binding PJ (Pengs)
after Pancreaticoduodenectomy on functional and morphological
changes in pancreatic remnant undergoing – Randomized control

 Research article on “Comparison of chlorhexidine alcohol vs
povidone iodine scrubs in hand cleansing in elective clean surgeries”
in International journal of surgery. 2016
 Fate of 500 referrals to a Liver Transplant surgery team at a
Tertiary care center in Inidia. Are we saving enough lives?
 Very long operating times in complex laparoscopic surgery: to be
condemned or promoted?
 Managing Hilar Cholangiocarcinoma – a team effort with several
determinants of success: Why formulating a proforma to manage is

 Dr.Daniel S.C.Devadhar Research award for the best dissertation in
Surgery.
 First prize in TYSA (Torrent Young Scholar Award) in the
field of Surgical gastroenterology and First prize in ASI-
Maharashtra state chapter surgical quiz

 Certified professionals for quality implementation in hospitals
(CPQIH) certificate conducted by Consortium of Accredited
Healthcare Organisations (CAHO)
 ‘Advanced Trauma Life Support’, conducted by American College of
Surgeons.
 ‘Good Clinical Practices’, Conducted by National Institute on Drug
Abuse, National Institute of Health, NIDA-NIH-US.

Special Interests:
A noteworthy academic interest is to keep himself up to date in medical
knowledge which led him to create an informal online video and
Mendeley group named ‘Evidence Based Medicine-Surgery’ and wishes to
expand in different dimensions with the help of friends and colleagues as a
tool to educate both doctors and patients
